A few more family pictures from Gulf Shores, this is the Otto Family. Aunt Sandra is my mom’s sister and she is with her in-laws as well as her son, Blake, his girlfriend, Kristen and their little boy, Aiden. Isn’t he a doll?
This is something Hayden’s been doing for a while now, but its really funny. To preface it, though, you have to know who Diego is, on Nick Jr. He’s an animal rescuer and he has a friend named Baby Jaguar. Baby Jaguar gets into trouble sometimes and needs to be rescued. The way he calls Diego when he is in trouble, is he says “meow meow.”
So now, whenever Hayden is stuck somewhere or needs help with something, he dramatically calls out, “Help me, meow meow,” and sounds just like Baby Jaguar. I can’t help but crack up each and every time he does it.
Last night, Hayden wasn’t quite ready to settle down to go to sleep, so he asked us over and over again to sing him his song, “You are my Sunshine.” Wade and I took turns singing it and every now and then, Hayden would sing along with a word he knew, sometimes he substituted the words to Twinkle Twinkle or Itsy Bitsy Spider.
I honestly didn’t think we’d ever get one, there was just no need. The last gaming system we bought, XBox 360, I paid WAY too much for and its probably been used about 10 times, 0 of those being in the last 2 years. Then, I see the Wii Fit and I researched to see what it was about … so cool!! I started begging Wade about 3 weeks ago to please please please let me get a Wii. I even saw one in Walmart, it was just sitting on the shelf, asking me to buy it. When the Fit was released, our Walmart had a whole endcap FULL of them (for about a day) Wade said NO, we didn’t need it, he didn’t want it. :-(
Fast forward to our Gulf Shores trip last week when Mandy and Chad brought along their new Wii for some nighttime entertainment. Wade played baseball, bowling and boxing and he was hooked! (Thanks Chad!) He looked online a few places, but of course, they aren’t easy to come by online. So I started my Wii quest, calling Best Buy on the days they get their stock (Sunday and Tuesday) and going into Walmart every day for the last week, just to check. I called every store I could think of around here and no one had them. Wade said to stop looking so hard, it must mean we didn’t need it right now and that we’d get it when we came across one :-P That doesn’t sit well with Ms. Impatient-I-Have-To-Have-Instant-Gratification. So when I went to New Orleans yesterday for the circus, I decided I’d try a few stores there and if they didn’t have them, I’d give up. I called 3 Best Buys, 2 Targets and a Toys R Us, none of them had them. Finally, on the last try, I found a Toys R Us that had them (several of them in fact, so if you now someone who wants one, go to TRU in Metairie, they said they always have them!) So I hurried to dress Hayden and get our Wii before picking up my MIL from the airport.
So, yay, we have a Wii now! (And I’m not sure I like it, I feel really spastic on it LOL) Hopefully, I’ll get better with the stupid nunchucks :-( No, j/k, I do like it, I just hate that I’m no good at it yet and we also didn’t really play a game I enjoy. I bought Mario Party 8 b/c that’s always been a favorite of Wade and I’s to play, then I rented SSX Blur to see if we would like it (Tricky is one of our favorite games of all time). SSX is waaaayyyy to spastic for me, not sure if I’ll ever like it. Mario Party was OK, I just spent most of my time trying to get the remote to work correctly, so I came in last :-(
